| Lerwick Lifeboat Rescues |

At around 07:25 Coast Guard paged LOM and requested launch of the Lerwick lifeboat to go to a man reported to have fallen overboard from fishing vessel Rosemount which was tied up at the peir. Person turned up safe and well ashore, he had been missing from about 01:30. Stood down at 08:00. Crew: Neil Clark , John Sinclair, Bruce Leask, Paul Hughson, Stanley Hughson, Robert Stout, Raymond Stewart, Dieter Glasier. |
Lerwick Lifeboat was tasked by Shetland Coastguard to go to assistance of the sailing yacht Stetind which was having trouble with thier propeller in a position North of the Brethern rocks, when we arrived on scene the yacht was drifting in a NE direction close to the Unicorn rock, their propeller was wound up in a short length of discarded heavy rope. We passed a towrope and proceeded to tow them to Lerwick where we berthed them alongside the pontoon in Lerwick's small boat harbour. Lerwick Lifeboat was tasked by Shetland Coastguard to go to the MFV Transcend BF61, 34 miles NE of Lerwick. They had fuel problems ans as a result were now without power and required a tow to Lerwick. We launched and proceeded to the casualty arriving on scene at 19:05, we attached the towrope and headed for Lerwick averaging 8 Knots, arriving 00:25. We put th casualty alongside the quay at Holmsgarth No 1 and returned to station. Crew: John Sinclair, Bruce Leask, Ian Leask, Paul Hughson, Dieter Glasier and Stanley Hughson. |

Lifeboat called to assist 2 persons sighted in the water off Gletness Isle in need of assistance. Lifeboat launched within 15 minutes nad did a quick search and the Coastguard alerted us that 3 people have been found safe and well ashore, having swum ashore following a capsize. The Coastguard had been alerted by phone by a family memberashore. Helicopter alerted the lifeboat of the position of boat, which was unmanned. Lifeboat went alongside the boat and attached a line. Then towed the boat into Gletness Voe. Coast Guard requested launch to a small angling boat, which had broken down and missing somewhere East of Helli Ness, with 2 persons onboard. Local MFV Venturous located casualty approximately 3 miles East of Helli Ness and stood by until Lifeboat arrived on scene. Lifeboat took casualty under tow and headed for Aiths Voe in Cunningsburgh and handed over the tow to local boat Saphire to take alongside, as Lifeboat could not enter the voe. Lifeboat stood by in the mouth of the voe illuminating area with search lights until casualty was alongside. Crew: Bruce Leask, Neil Clark, Ian Leask, Gareth Geddes and Robert Garrick
Coast Guard requested launch to search for a person missing on a cliff at Noss. Stood down before reaching the scene when person was found safe and well by Coast Guard shore team. Lifeboat returned to station. Crew: Bruce Leask, John Sinclair, Dieter Glaser, Paul Hughson, Marcus Thomason and Kenny Pearson.
At 19:40hrs we were tasked by Shetland Coastguard to proceed to the French fishing vessel 'Bressay Bank' 50 NE of Lerwick to evacuate a sick man who was vomiting and fainting. On avrrival at the vessel, we went along his port side where a door was located at deck level. The man was then transferred to us and we procceded to Lerwick where he was landed and met by the vessels agent, who took him to hospital to be checked over. The lifeboat was fuelled and ready for service at 23:00hrs. Crew: Bruce Leask, Dieter Glaser, Ian Leask, Tam Sinclair, Paul Hughson and Robert Garrick.
Coast Guard tasked us to launch to recover a man who had fallen in the dock while trying to board his vessel. Crew arrived at station but were stood down before launching as others had recovered tha man.
